Your company and employees probably have to constantly pay for things or buy things which might provide you with paperwork afterwards which contains important information about your company. You don't want that information made public, so shred it.

1. The medical industry has very specific laws which require health care businesses to have written policies in place that cover the shredding of all documents which contain patient information. The law is called HIPPA, and it requires confidential shredding of all patient financial, medical, and insurance information.

2. Corporate espionage has been a continually growing event in America. One of the pieces of information that is most sought after in these activities is the state of the competitions balance book. Don't let financial information become exposed to the public by shredding it all regularly.

3. Make sure your clients know that you are taking every step possible to protect their information. That can boost client trust and make them more likely to return to you in the future.

4. If your hiring processes involve criminal or credit checks on your employees, you are going to have to shred those documents. The law states that even though they authorized you to collect that information the information is still theirs, and you are legally obligated to protect it.

5. Don't let your years of hard work researching and developing go to waste. Follow similar corporate policies to development giants and make sure that all documents are shredded so that no one learns of your products until the marketing team wants them too.

6. Sign confidentiality agreements knowing that it will be easy to meet their terms because you already have an effective shredding policy in place at your company.

7. Don't make yourself a target for identity theft. It is amazing what an identity thief can use to steal your identity, so stay safe and shred everything.

8. You can save your company a lot of money by shredding all your documents regularly. As seen in many of the points above, shredding can help you avoid liability for violation of certain regulations. However, filing and storage costs can also be very expensive for a large company. Avoid that cost by shredding instead.

9. Despite your best research, there are often laws that you don't even know exist when it comes to protecting private information. Err on the side of caution and shred all non-essential documents.
